That would make John about 95 years old at the absolute youngest when he wrote the Gospel...living a full 65 years past the average life expectancy of the time. To put that in context, that's the equivalent of a modern day person living to about 125 years old. How many 125 year olds do you know?

@garethac81 Sorry for replying twice but you have to remember there were also three different John's in the New Testament. John the apostle, John Mark and John the Baptist. John Mark wrote the book of Mark around A.D 60 making him the same age as Luke. Matthew wrote his book around A.D 60 as well, making him the same age as Mark and Luke. If the life expectancy of age during that time was 30 years of ago then you would be right but Psalm 90:10 and archeologist evidence tell me other wise.

So if Jesus ascended to heaven in A.D. 30 and all them were around the same age, then that would make John, the last gospel writer, around the age of 75-80 not 110. John was an apostle of Jesus, the same one who wrote the book of John. Matthew was one of Jesus' disciples. The book of Luke was written about A.D 60 making him around 60 years of age and the book of acts around the same time. Read Psalm 90;10 I'm praying for you

The Gospels...all written between 30-80 years after Jesus' crucifixion. Average life expectancy of that period? Approximately 30 years. If the Gospel writers were contemporaries of Jesus - making them roughly the same age - then the earliest Gospel was written by a 60 year old (conceivable, though unlikely) and the latest Gospel was written by a 110 year old (virtually impossible). Matthew, Luke, Mark and John all witnessed and interacted with Jesus. They give all their accounts of their interactions with Jesus using their own perspectives. The revelation of creation was revealed to Moses as he wrote the first five books of the Bible.
